Words with pictures

Stephen Goodwin is a Brisbane-based writer and photographer with a passion for enjoying and documenting live music — particularly the city’s many talented local acts.

Since 2005, he has reviewed and photographed hundreds of bands for Fasterlouder and Lifemusicmedia, covering intimate album launches as often as major international tours and festivals such as Splendour in the Grass and the Big Day Out. He also contributes a quarterly column called Cyberjungle for Wildlife Australia Magazine — a publication produced by the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland.

For the last eight years, Stephen has worked as a copywriter for a local management and marketing consultancy, crafting brochures, whitepapers, websites, sales letters and print advertisements on subjects as wide-ranging as logistics, commercial property, finance, HR and manufacturing. In a past life, he worked in a PR and sponsorship role for the University of Queensland’s award-winning solar racing team.

Words With Pictures is a recognition that, individually, words and pictures do not suffice. Each is necessary. Alone, neither is sufficient. This site is an effort to blend the individual strengths of prose and visual stills to give the reader greater insight — especially in the context of live performance.
